Things to do on the Central Coast

The Central Coast is one of California’s true hidden gems! If you are looking for things to do after your flight, here are a few ideas of where to start!

Go wine tasting.

The Central Coast is full of fantastic wineries! Paso Robles is home to some of the finest wines California has to offer but also small surrounding towns do as well! These wineries offer a very laid back Ma and Pop type feel that is found to be simply irresistible. I would be impressed if you can leave this area without joining one of the many reasonable and wonderful clubs these establishments have to offer.

Check out Harmony, California.

Located 5 miles south of Cambria off of HWY 1 is this little slice of heaven. Harmony, a town with a population of 18, is home to a few great finds. There is a beautiful glass blowing shop that has excellent keepsakes and if you didn’t find anything there, head across the street to the pottery studio. Across the pasture and up the hill, pop into the one winery of the town and have a glass of one of their blends that they create with locally sourced grapes.

Grab a bite in Cayucos.

Grab a table at Schooners and enjoy watching a few surfers with your meal! Cayucos is a cool little beach town that has plenty of shops and sites to see. After your lunch, take a stroll along the beach or make your way to the end of the pier to possible catch a whale viewing!

Tour the Hearst Castle.

Fan of history? This California highway landmark was a residence for newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst between 1919 and 1947. This property is so large that the tours are even divided up into different quarters! They offer many tours but be sure to make reservations prior to your arrival.

Play disc golf through a vineyard.

Castoro Winery located in Templeton, has a great private disc golf course that is fun for all ages. Don’t have discs? Not to worry! The winery is happy to loan a few while you’re out playing through their gorgeous property.

Dine at the Madonna Inn.

Whether you’re looking to do a fun fine dining meal or just stopping in for a coffee, this famous hotel will be sure to please. The Madonna Inn is located in San Luis Obispo and a stop to see for many. After checking out the hotel grounds, head downtown for shops, bars and much more.

End the day in Tin City.

Tin City is a small area in Paso Robles that has a great selection of small local wineries, breweries, and cider houses that are too fun to pass up. If you’re not in the mood for a drink, stop in a grab dessert at the local creamery to end your day.

Hope these tips help when planning your next trip to the coast and we hope to see you soon!
